CENTRAL WATERS BEER SELECTION
[ ASK FOR AVAILABILITY ]
Our version of the English pub staple. This golden beer’s body starts with 100% pale ale malt, and is then gently hopped with English Fuggles to produce a delicate balance of bitterness and aroma.
Named after the former ice cream dairy the brewery now occupies, this German style pilzner is a European masterpiece. Golden straw colored, with a fine dense head of pure white foam. In keeping with tradition we use only the finest pilzner malts and choicest hops from Bavaria. Aged at nearly freezing temperatures, the final result is a crisp, highly carbonated beer to be enjoyed one sip at a time.
LOCH NESS SCOTCH ALE:
Our 90+ schilling is far and away a wee heavy. Hop presence is kept low to allow the full richness of seven different malts to shine through.
The birthplace of lagers, we begin this beer with a generous amount of Bonlander malt, then add a glorious helping of Vienna malt. German noble hops lend a subtle offset to the rich, malty, sweetness of the garnet colored beauty.
Named after one of the brewmaster’s grandfather, a lifetime resident of Marshfield who, although he did not get to see the grand opening, was probably the biggest word of mouth advertiser. In his honor we created this tribute beer. This germarican wheat beer is a bit of old world meeting the new. Heaping amounts of Wisconsin wheat and barley are combined with Bavarian hops using time honored German brewing techniques.
Although this is not a recognized style, it did not stop us from creating this gem. This golden libation has just the right balance of maltiness, bitterness, and honey goodness. Not too strong or bitter, this beer is made for everyday enjoyment.
AN FHOMAIR GEAL (IRISH RED ALE):
A reddish cousin to English pale ales, only slightly sweeter. This is a malty, yet lightly hopped beer that is light bodied as well – it would make any Irishman come back for another.
LORICA IRISH STOUT:
Named after the “magical” breast plates the celtics wore as a personal protection charm. A generous portion of unmalted, roasted barley gives this beer an opaque black color. A wonderful blend of dry, roasted, and coffeelike flavors make this a wonderful easy drinking stout.
The breweries staple – the best selling beer since it’s inception. A robust, yet surprisingly refreshing porter. Characterized by a thick, rocky head and luscious chocolate-like aroma, the malty profile is balanced by liberal hopping for its style.
HAPPY HERON PALE ALE:
This crisp, zesty, American pale ale is characterized by the sharp bitterness missing in many domestic pale ales. The clean finish and slight fruitiness make this beer a delightful treat.
OUISCONSING RED ALE:
Named from the Algonquin word for the Wisconsin River, this is a smooth amber ale with a mellow nutty flavor and subtle flowery nose.
LAC DU BAY IPA (INDIA PALE ALE):
In a style that has many false representation in the U.S., this one is the real McCoy. A very true to style IPA is a hopheads dream. In attempt to keep beer from spoiling in the longer journey from England to the Indian colonies, the two natural preservatives in beer (alcohol and hops) were increased considerably. Our IPA has a distinct sharpness of British hops and a dry, crisp, malty profile.
JUNCTOWN BROWN ALE:
A traditional British workingman’s ale, Junctown is refreshing, yet robust. The subtle bitterness of Fuggle hops unites with a pleasant nuttiness of victory malt to create ambrosia in a mug.
SATIN SOLSTICE IMPERIAL STOUT:
A smooth creamy stout that is at the lighter ends of the imperial stout style. The rich coffee flavor compliments the “warm, fuzzy feeling” that will sneak up on you with this one.
An unfiltered German style wheat beer that is more robust than its cousin Elder Weiss. The Bavarian yeast in this beer give it refreshing spicy overtones with hints of bananas.
KOSMYK CHARLIE’S Y2K CATASTROPHE ALE:
Aged for a full year in our cellars this monster of a barleywine (11.2% ABV) was originally designed in 1998 to help anyone cope with a Y2K disaster. Look for multi-award winning beer to come on tap at different times and at different ages.
FARMHOUSE COFFEE PORTER:
A wonderfully balanced porter that is infused with cold pressed coffee. A wonderful treat – “Beer – it’s not just for breakfast anymore!”
The American name for the beer traditionally served at Oktoberfest celebrations in Bavaria. Amber in color, this lager is smooth, malty, and well balanced by German hops.
BOURBON BARREL STOUT:
Our most heavily sought after beer at the brewery. We take an Imperial Stout and age it six months in used bourbon barrels. This creation combines the unique flavors of stouts, bourbon, and oak casks. This is the original of our Cooper’s Choice.
Long before the advent of modern stainless steel brewing equipment, the second most important person in the brewing process was the head cooper. It was his responsibility to tend to the wooden barrels used to contain the beer. From choosing the right wood for the slats to the perfect reeds for staves the skill was truly artisan. We pay homage to this craft by offering a selection of beers still aged in wood. Offerings will vary in both style of beer and types of barrels used. The Cooper’s Choice will be offered in very limited quantities.
